Alright, EV fans, listen up! The moment we’ve been waiting for is finally here. VinFast, that ambitious electric car maker from Vietnam, has officially thrown open the doors for pre-bookings of their much-hyped electric SUVs, the VF 6 and VF 7, starting today! This is a pretty huge deal, especially since they first wowed us at the Auto Expo last year.
This move really shows VinFast is serious about our booming Indian EV market. They’ve got a solid plan, including setting up a factory in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu (they’ve already hired folks there!), and rolling out dealerships everywhere. VinFast isn’t just dipping a toe in the water; they’re diving right in!
how to book & what’s next
So, if you’re keen to get your hands on one, here’s the lowdown: Pre-bookings for both the VF 6 and VF 7 are open, and you’ll need a refundable token amount of Rs. 21,000. You can make your reservation either on VinFast’s official website or by popping into one of their brand-new dealerships.
And speaking of dealerships, VinFast hasn’t wasted any time. They’ve teamed up with 13 dealer groups to kick off with 32 outlets across 27 cities. That covers all the big spots like Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune, plus other places where EVs are really taking off. Their goal is to hit 35 dealerships by the end of 2025, so they’ll be pretty easy to find.
While you can pre-book both models, it looks like the VF 7 will be launched first, probably in August 2025, with the VF 6 following close behind in September 2025. Deliveries should start pretty soon after each launch, just in time for our festive season!
Meet the EVs: VF 6 and VF 7 Details
Let’s dig into what these Vietnamese electric SUVs are all about. Both promise a cool blend of modern looks, smart tech, and impressive electric performance.
VinFast VF 6: The Compact & Stylish City Slicker
The VF 6 is designed to be a compact electric SUV, perfect for zipping around busy cities while still feeling quite premium.
* Looks: It’s got a sleek, modern design with clean lines and that upscale feel. Think signature VinFast LED lights, flush door handles, and a really fresh look.
* Power & Drive:
* It’ll mostly come with a single electric motor, likely at the front for Front-Wheel Drive (FWD).
* Expect power around 174 bhp (130 kW) and 250 Nm of torque. There might even be a ‘Plus’ version with 201 PS and 310 Nm of torque!
* Battery: A 59.6 kWh battery pack.
* Range (WLTP): Around 399-410 km on a single charge – pretty competitive for its size.
* 0-100 km/h: Should do it in under 9 seconds.
* Inside & Tech:
* A minimalist cabin dominated by a big 12.9-inch central touchscreen (no old-school instrument cluster here!).
* Features like wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, and a panoramic glass roof.
* Comfort: Heated and ventilated front seats, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat.
* Smart Stuff & Safety: Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, connected car features, a 360-degree camera, lots of airbags (up to 7!), ABS with EBD, ESC, and Level 2 ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) with things like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist.
* Size: Roughly 4,238 mm long, 1,820 mm wide, and 1,594 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,730 mm.
We’re guessing the VF 6 will be priced around Rs. 25 lakh (ex-showroom).
VinFast VF 7: The Sporty & Mid-Size Powerhouse
Moving up a notch in size and muscle, the VF 7 is a mid-size electric SUV for those who want a more dynamic and powerful ride.
* Looks: It’s got more aggressive, sporty lines, with a cool sloping roofline, modern LED light bars, and maybe bigger wheels (19-inch for Eco, 20-inch for Plus).
* Power & Drive:
* The Eco variant will likely get a single electric motor with 201 bhp and 310 Nm of torque (FWD).
* But there could be a Plus variant with dual motors and All-Wheel Drive (AWD), offering significantly more power – possibly around 349 bhp and 500 Nm, which means a much quicker 0-100 km/h sprint (around 5.8 seconds!).
* Battery: A larger 70.8 kWh battery pack.
* Range (WLTP): The FWD might go up to 450 km, while the AWD version might be a little less because of the extra power.
* Inside & Tech:
* A bigger 12.9-inch (Eco) or even a 15-inch (Plus) central touchscreen.
* Just like the VF 6, it’ll be packed with smart features: Wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, OTA updates, connected car stuff, a head-up display (HUD), and that Level 2 ADAS suite.
* Comfort: Panoramic sunroof, dual-zoneVF7 automatic climate control, and an electronic parking brake.
* Size: Roughly 4,545 mm long, 1,890 mm wide, and 1,636 mm tall, with a longer wheelbase of 2,840 mm.
The VF 7 is estimated to cost around Rs. 50 lakh (ex-showroom) for the FWD version, with the AWD possibly climbing to Rs. 55-60 lakh.
