The Mahindra Scorpio N, affectionately known as the “Big Daddy of SUVs,” is about to get a significant brain boost. Mahindra has just dropped a compelling teaser across its social media, strongly hinting at the imminent arrival of Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS). This major upgrade is set to propel the Scorpio N’s safety and convenience features, placing it squarely alongside some of the most technologically advanced SUVs on the market.

The cryptic yet clear teaser shows illuminated lane markings with the tagline “Power Always Stays On Course.” This is a direct nod to features like Lane Keep Assist, confirming that the Scorpio N will likely receive a Level 2 ADAS suite. This will mirror the capabilities already found in its siblings, the Mahindra XUV700 and the newer XUV 3XO.

What to Expect from the Scorpio N’s ADAS

While Mahindra is keeping the full feature list under wraps, we can anticipate a comprehensive Level 2 ADAS package based on their existing offerings and industry trends. This could include:

* Adaptive Cruise Control: Automatically adjusts your speed to maintain a safe distance from the car ahead.

* Lane Keep Assist (LKA): Provides subtle steering assistance to keep the vehicle centered in its lane.

* Lane Departure Warning (LDW): Alerts you if the vehicle unintentionally drifts out of its lane.

* Forward Collision Warning (FCW): Warns you of a potential frontal collision.

* Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB): Automatically applies the brakes to help mitigate or avoid a collision.

* Traffic Sign Recognition: Detects and displays important traffic signs like speed limits.

* High Beam Assist: Automatically switches between high and low beams based on traffic and lighting.

Beyond ADAS: Other Anticipated Upgrades

The ADAS integration isn’t the only exciting development rumored for the Scorpio N. Reports also suggest Mahindra might introduce:

* Panoramic Sunroof: A highly sought-after feature, potentially replacing the current single-pane electric sunroof in higher trims. This would significantly enhance the cabin’s airy feel and premium appeal.

* Ventilated Front Seats: Adding another layer of comfort, especially crucial in India’s often hot climate.

* 360-degree Surround-View Camera: Offering a comprehensive view around the vehicle for easier parking and maneuvering in tight spots.

* Updated Instrument Cluster: While it already features a semi-digital unit, there’s a possibility of a more advanced, potentially fully digital, display.

Powertrain Remains Unchanged

Importantly, these new feature additions are not expected to bring any mechanical changes. The Scorpio N will continue to be powered by its robust engine options:

* 2.0-litre mStallion Turbo-Petrol: Delivering 200 bhp and 380 Nm of torque.

* 2.2-litre mHawk Diesel: Producing 172 bhp and 400 Nm of torque.

Both engines will continue to be offered with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission, along with an optional 4WD system for the diesel variants.

Launch and Expected Pricing

With the official teaser now live, the launch of the updated Mahindra Scorpio N, likely featuring these advanced systems, is expected very soon – potentially within days or weeks. These significant feature additions are expected to be available primarily on the top-spec variants, particularly the Z8 L trim. Consequently, we anticipate a price increase of approximately Rs 1.5 lakh for the ADAS-equipped variants, potentially pushing the ex-showroom price of the top trim to around Rs 27 lakh.

The integration of ADAS into the Scorpio N highlights Mahindra’s commitment to enhancing safety and technological sophistication across its SUV lineup. This strategic move is poised to further cement the Scorpio N’s position as a dominant force in the highly competitive Indian SUV market, appealing to an even wider range of buyers who prioritize cutting-edge safety and convenience.
