If you love a bit of adventure on two wheels here in India, you probably already know the KTM 390 Adventure. It’s always been about giving you a taste of off-road excitement and touring comfort without breaking the bank. But guess what? KTM just spiced things up with the updated 2025 KTM 390 Adventure X, packing in some seriously cool tech that makes it even better value.

The old 390 Adventure X was great as an entry-level adventure bike, but some folks might have wished it had a few more of the fancy features its bigger brother boasted. Well, it looks like KTM was listening! The 2025 model tackles those points head-on, making it an even more tempting choice if you’re after a capable, and now much smarter, adventure machine.

What’s New? The “X” Now Means Extra Smart!

The big news for the 2025 390 Adventure X is that it’s getting some top-tier electronic rider aids that used to be exclusive to the standard 390 Adventure. And the best part? It’s only Rs. 3.03 lakh (ex-showroom), which is just Rs. 12,000 more than the outgoing model. Seriously, for those features, that’s a steal! It really cements the new X as a champion for value for money.

Let’s break down the cool new stuff that makes the 2025 390 Adventure X stand out:

* Cruise Control: This is huge for touring! Long highway rides just got way more chill. You’ll notice the updated controls on the handlebar, just like on the standard model, with a dedicated button and toggle for easy speed adjustments. It’s super smooth – hit the brakes and it turns off, twist the throttle and it kicks back in. Perfect for those endless stretches.

* IMU-based Cornering ABS: This is a big one for safety. Thanks to an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), the ABS now knows if you’re leaning into a corner. That means it brakes smarter, even when you’re cornering, which drastically cuts down on the risk of slipping.

* Cornering Traction Control (MTC): Another clever IMU-assisted feature. This system watches for wheel spin and adjusts power delivery to keep you glued to the road, especially handy on slippery bits or when you’re really leaning the bike over.

* Multiple Ride Modes: Now you can actually pick how your bike behaves! You get “Street,” “Rain,” and “Off-road” modes, each tweaking the throttle response and traction control settings. This lets you tailor the ride to whatever terrain or weather you’re facing. Plus, there’s “Off-road” ABS and “Supermoto” mode (which turns off ABS at the rear wheel for some proper dirt sliding fun!).

* Updated Switchgear: As I mentioned, the new controls on the handlebar feel much more premium and are simply easier to use, giving you quick access to all those new features.

Still a Beast: Performance & Core Specs

Even with all the new electronics, the heart of the 390 Adventure X is the same familiar and super capable 399cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It still pumps out a healthy 45 PS of power at 8,500 rpm and 39 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. Paired with a smooth 6-speed gearbox, an assist and slipper clutch, and a bi-directional quickshifter, the power comes on strong but is still very manageable.

Everything else that made the previous model great is still here:

* Suspension: It’s got the same WP APEX USD forks (43 mm) up front and a WP APEX monoshock at the back. While the front isn’t adjustable on the ‘X’ model, the rear monoshock does have preload adjustability. This setup is still awesome for both highway cruising and light off-roading, giving you 200mm of travel up front and 205mm at the rear.

* Wheels & Tires: The 390 Adventure X rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, wrapped in tubeless tires. This setup leans a bit more towards road riding but can definitely handle some decent trails too.

* Brakes: You get a 320 mm disc up front and a 240 mm disc at the rear, now with that fantastic dual-channel ABS system that includes cornering functionality.

* Display: A crisp 5-inch TFT digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation comes standard, making your rides even more convenient.

* Seat Height & Weight: At 825mm seat height and 181 kg kerb weight, the Adventure X is still pretty accessible for a wide variety of riders.

The “X” Factor: Why This Matters So Much

The 2025 KTM 390 Adventure X now really nails that sweet spot between being affordable and having advanced rider aids. For many, the lack of adjustable front suspension on the ‘X’ was a small compromise for the lower price, especially since the stock setup is quite good. But, missing out on crucial electronics like cruise control, cornering ABS, and traction control was a bigger deal. With these additions, the 390 Adventure X is now an incredibly complete package, making it a serious contender in the mid-capacity adventure touring segment.

It’s clear KTM is saying something here: they want to make cutting-edge tech available to more people. This updated 390 Adventure X isn’t just an entry-level ADV anymore; it’s a genuinely smart and highly capable machine ready for all sorts of Indian terrain. If you’re looking for a versatile bike that can handle your daily commute, exciting weekend blasts, and proper adventure tours with extra safety and convenience, you absolutely need to check out the updated 2025 KTM 390 Adventure X.
