Kinetic, a name synonymous with India’s two-wheeler history, has officially re-entered the market with the launch of its new electric scooter, the Kinetic DX. This is n’t just another EV; it’s a nostalgic revival, blending the iconic design of the classic Kinetic Honda DX with modern electric technology. The launch, which took place on July 28, 2025, marks a significant moment for both the company and for Indian consumers who grew up with the brand.

The Kinetic DX and its premium variant, the DX+, are designed to appeal to both a new generation of riders and those who remember the original. The scooter’s boxy silhouette, the illuminated “Kinetic” logo on the flyscreen, and even the “READY” red starter button are all a nod to its retro roots. But beneath this vintage charm lies a thoroughly modern and feature-packed EV.

Powering the new DX is a 4.8 kW hub-motor paired with a 2.6 kWh LFP battery. This combination promises an IDC (Indian Driving Cycle) range of up to 116 km, with a claimed top speed of 90 kmph. Kinetic has also introduced a unique “Cruise Lock” feature, which can extend the range up to 150 km by locking the speed at 25-30 kmph—a smart solution for efficiency-conscious riders. The scooter offers three ride modes: Range, Power, and Turbo, along with a reverse mode and hill-hold assist.

The DX is packed with thoughtful features designed for convenience and a seamless user experience. It boasts a class-leading 37-liter under-seat storage, which is large enough to accommodate a full-face and a half helmet. Other innovations include an “Easy Key” keyless system, a built-in speaker with Bluetooth connectivity, and a USB charging port. The DX+ variant takes things a step further with its “Telekinetic” app, offering advanced features like geo-fencing, vehicle tracking, and intruder alerts. A unique “Easy Charge” feature on the DX+ includes a patented retractable charging cable, eliminating the need to carry a separate charger.

Bookings for the limited initial units are now open, with deliveries expected to begin in September 2025. The Kinetic DX is more than just a scooter; it’s a testament to the company’s legacy and its ambition to lead the charge in India’s electric mobility revolution.
